Hashtag Fixer for X (Twitter) Posts

Paste your post. The fixer spaces out run-together hashtags, joins stray # signs to their word, fixes hyphenated tags, drops repeats and can trim or move them to the end.

Private by design: everything happens on your device.

    What it does

The hashtag fixer rewrites hashtags so X links them correctly (a space before #, no space after it, no hyphens), removes case-insensitive duplicates, optionally limits or moves them, and flags number-only tags that X won't link.

How does X decide what counts as a hashtag?

A hashtag on X is a # sign that isn't glued to a preceding letter or number, followed by letters, numbers or underscores, with at least one letter. The link stops at the first character that isn't allowed, such as a hyphen, an apostrophe or a full stop.

You typed What X links Fix
    great#news nothing great #news
    # news nothing #news
    #self-care #self #SelfCare
    #mother's-day #mother #MothersDay
    #2026 nothing add a word: #Launch2026
    #one#two #one only #one #two

    What does the fixer change?

    1. Joins a lone # to the word after it.
    2. Adds a space before a # stuck to the previous word (but leaves things like C# alone).
    3. Splits run-together tags.
    4. Turns hyphenated tags into CamelCase (optional).
    5. Removes repeats, ignoring case (optional).
    6. Moves tags to the end and/or limits how many you keep (optional).

Links are protected, so a #section at the end of a URL is never touched. Every change is listed under the result.

Should hashtags go at the end?

Either works; at the end tends to read better. Tags in the middle of a sentence are fine when they're natural words ("Watching the #WorldCup final"). A block of tags at the end keeps the sentence clean. The hashtags guide has more on choosing them.

    FAQ

Why didn't X turn my hashtag into a link?

The usual reasons: the # is glued to the previous word (great#news), there's a space after it (# news), the tag is only numbers (#2026), or it contains a hyphen or apostrophe, where the link stops early.

    Why capitalise words in hashtags?

#SelfCare is easier to read than #selfcare, and screen readers are more likely to read it as two words. X treats hashtags case-insensitively, so it's still the same tag.

How many hashtags should I use?

There's no magic number. X's Help Center suggests no more than two per post as best practice. One or two relevant tags usually read better than a block of ten, and the limit option lets you enforce your own rule.
